In 2014, Northside Elementary School was awarded platinum-level LEED certification as a result of its environmental features and sustainable construction practices. A link to the article may be found at this site. Architectural elements from the surrounding community have been incorporated into the school's design. Mosely Architects, designers of Carrboro High School, were the architects for the project.
